The World That Was

0

“In early 1914, though, it seemed almost impossible that Britain and France would go to war with Germany to defend Russia against Austria-Hungary over a dispute with Serbia. Yet by June 28, war moved straight from impossible to inevitable — without ever passing through improbable. Four years later, 10 million people had died.” (From World War One: First war was impossible, then inevitable; Anatole Kaletsky)

Although I have used this quote in the past, I’ve found myself drawn to it again due to its precise accuracy describing the seemingly incredible and often unpredictable nature of geopolitics. Prior to World War I, who would have believed it? Yet after it was over, the warning signs of impending trouble were so obvious that most could not believe they had missed it. Even though the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand could not have been predicted, it simply became the right crisis at the right time the old powers used to set the world afire. World War I itself then became a forcing function by the old world who were stubbornly clinging to the dying vestiges of the world as it was. However, change came nonetheless and no one could stop it.

Juxtaposed to the seemingly unpredictable (and unbelievable) nature of global geopolitics, is the inevitable march towards a future, one-world system. We can see early efforts for this in moves like the League of Nations and later, the United Nations (UN). The UN, along with its cornucopia of bureaucratic offshoots, continue to try to gain global influence and power through treaty and peer pressure. What it lacks at present is a military force capable of enforcing any of these treaties.

Even more so, is the combined financial, informational, and military efforts across the world, solely concentrating on consolidating more and more power into fewer and fewer hands. This is made possible by the snowball-effect of the technological advancements in the 20th century. In fact, so much innovation has transpired over the past century that the technological advancements of the 20th century alone have eclipsed all the progress of the previous six thousand years of human history combined. Our dependence on technology has all but ensured that an ultimate centralized power controlling everything is already a foregone conclusion.

Assessment

When asked about the last days, Jesus told His disciples that the end of the age would be recognizable because of the many signs those days would present themselves. Although these signs in and of themselves were not unique (as signs are meant to point to something further down the road), what would be unique was the manner of their manifestation. Jesus likened these signs to ‘birth pangs’ a woman goes through leading up to the birth of a child. In pregnancy, the first and second trimesters have few (if any) contractions (pangs). But as a woman enters into the third (final) trimester, the pangs first come sporadically but soon come in rapid-fire regularity finally reaching a crescendo in both frequency and intensity to the point where the child is coming and she must seek immediate care for delivery. So too would the generation that enters into this final “trimester” of human history be witness to the delivery of ‘the child.’

For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. Romans 8:20-23

Just as Rome’s founding was many centuries before it became a world power, the same is true for the United States. The US was founded in 1776; but did not become a world power until the end of World War II. For a brief period following WWII, the US remained the world’s lone super-power. It was here in this tiny window of time, that she became instrumental in providing the global and political influence the newly formed nation of Israel would need in order to survive as an island of democracy in a sea of tumultuous Islamic theocracies.

But like everything else, the world’s corruptive and persistent influence has/is forcing the United States to concede to its demand to divide Israel. This is primarily due to our dependence on oil from said Islamic theocracies. Inevitably, our betrayal equates to a “ratcheting-up” of seemingly insolvable problems due to the Abrahamic Covenant effect, which God both promises and warns that I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. We view this covenant in a global sense, (since God was speaking to the nation who would come from Abraham) as the prophetic fulfillment we know simply as the convergence. In other words, the more the world turns against Israel, the more problems the world is going to have.

“For behold, in those days and at that time,
When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem,
I will also gather all nations,
And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;
And I will enter into judgment with them there
On account of My people, My heritage Israel,
Whom they have scattered among the nations;
They have also divided up My land.

Joel 3:1-2

The convergence then is simply the visible escalation and divine approval of natural calamities and man-caused problems since 1977. The land for peace agenda began this year between Egypt, Israel, and the United States with the Camp David Accords. Since then, there has been an ever-increasing series of tragic and horrific events overwhelming the entire world. For those watching, the rapid uptick has been startling. For the rest of the world, the normalcy bias has set in and the world has been lulled back to its slumber.

Presumably, Satan learned his lesson post-Calvary (1 Cor. 2:6-7) and now understands (Rev. 12:12) that his time is running out. The conflict we then see in the world is one in which the world that is currently controlled by Satan (Luke 4:5-6) is trying to stay the way it is, rather than allow God to press forward with His divine timeline. This then results in wars and rumors of wars, which inevitably allows for rapid innovation. Man’s technological, financial, and political progress careens forward then because crisis demands action and solutions. In other words, Satan can’t stop God’s agenda no matter what he tries.

The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it. Luke 16:16

Therefore, in the macro-sense, the world continues to press forward in all aspects, and the drama involving all its nation-states seems to be ever fluid and unpredictable. The issues of death, eternity, the kingdom of God, heaven, hell, God, the angels, etc., all seem to be distant things no one wants to talk or even think about, yet it will not go away. Inarguably, there have been moments in time where mankind’s mortality (in the collective sense) has been so shaken, that it unintentionally makes the world wake up, even if only for the briefest of moments. Such has been the case with 9/11 or the 2011 Japanese Tsunami. Even then, a little time passes and said-event passes into mankind’s short-term memory.

Conclusion

The election of Donald J. Trump was in a sense, the last gasp of a free American people. Here is a man who by all accounts (at least according to every expert and think tank on the planet) should not have won the election. His election was as unthinkable and as impossible, as the scenario found in the start of World War I. Yet, win he did, and he did so with as Steve Bannon called it, the island of misfit toys team. Let me explain.

For eight years, both Christians and conservatives had been force-fed the incessant mantra of the big three lies by the Obama administration. It was done with an intensity and zealotry that was shocking to anyone who had an ounce of common sense. For brevity’s sake, the big three whoppers were man-made climate change, aggressive historical revision (whitewashing or rewriting historical facts), and that all cultures and religions are equal. It was piped through all the Sunday news shows and by all the academic panels with their “experts.” These were they who all created the perfect echo chamber to make sure this message was beaten into our heads day after day. By the time 2016 rolled around, the last vestiges of American common sense found itself electing a man who was so far removed from the mainstream political fray out of sense of rebellion against having to endure another four years of the democrat propaganda machine.

Nevertheless, elections have consequences and the lies that were pumped via airwaves and Wi-Fi for eight years have unfortunately stuck in Western culture. This has us Christians are looking around the world today and finding ourselves increasingly at odds with the mainstream narrative. Even worse, is that there is a growing rift in Christendom between those congregations who are acquiescing to a culture in decline (accepting of gay marriage, transgenderism, abortion on demand, illegal immigration, cultural relativism, etc.), and those who are not bending the knee to popular consensus. Pretty soon, those not bending the knee will be as popular (and numerous) as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego on the plain of Dura (Daniel 3).

But are we Christians guilty of the same type of wishful thinking that those in the old world were guilty of by believing we can keep the world as it was? Are we guilty of actually thinking we can Make America Great Again?

The Bible does not predict any great revival in the last days before the Tribulation (i.e., the 70th Week of Daniel). America is far too diverse today to ever make that an eventuality. I do not mean ethnically diverse, but politically, religiously, and ideologically. Ten people in a room could not agree on where the moon was in relation to the earth. Furthermore, President Trump is finding out the hard way that the swamp does not want to be drained, and will do everything in its power to prevent it. The same could be said for our brothers and sisters across the pond in Great Britain with BREXIT. I do not believe it ever will happen because the EU and British swamps cannot let that happen.

My intent is not to be Mr. Doom and Gloom (Doug Woodward already owns this title!), but to simply make one point. The reason that the born-again Christian is finding himself or herself increasingly at odds with the world is that the world is the swamp, and is in the process of giving itself over to a strong delusion. Instead of draining it, God is going to purge it through judgments and with fire before He makes it great again. However, before He does any of that, He is going to remove His people by way of the Harpazo (i.e., the catching up or the Rapture). Then the world will be forcibly cast headlong into the final week of years. So fellow believer, do not get too sentimental on the world is it was, or frustrated at what it has become, because it is about to change.

For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:16-17

All Things Prophecy: Volume I

The Rapture Gap

As of late, I have noticed some within our Pre-Trib community who have begun to shift their thinking regarding the timing of the Seal Judgments and where those align within the 70th Week of Daniel-proper (i.e., the literal seven years). Some have even suggested that the Seal Judgments do not even begin to open until the mid-point of the Tribulation (or 3.5 years into the 70th Week).

I believe that part of their reasoning for departing from the traditional view (i.e., the simple chronological understanding of Revelation), is that their previous assumptions about the Rapture have not yet come to pass. If we think back to all the high-watch, rapture years (1993, 2000, 2011, 2017, and 2018), it seems these teachers relied on a faulty timing-based scenario that aligned the Rapture at either 40 or 70 years. Since we are now in 2019, many have begun to rethink their understanding, which is why they are moving into a hybrid, mid-tribulation Rapture scenario.

I do not subscribe to a mid-trib (for lack of a better term) scenario. Although I will tie up my thoughts in the summary of his volume, I want to give some context as to the why our Rapture is at the beginning of the 70th week, rather than the middle. Furthermore, if we understand that Scripture never ties the Rapture with the start the 70th Week of Daniel, we can see how and why a gap must be necessary.

Why the Gap?

The reasons I do not support a mid-trib Rapture (or even a 3.5-year Tribulation) are many, but many theologians ignore one of the more practical reasons I can think of. There is a military truism I have oft heard repeated throughout my career, which is amateur’s talk of strategy, while professionals study logistics. In other words, you can be the best tactically trained force on the planet, and have the best strategic plan ever devised, but if you cannot resource it, it is never going to work. Logistics is truly how the US beat the Japanese and the German’s in WWII. It is not that we had better weapons, tanks, ships, or aircraft; it was that we out-produced them while simultaneously decimating their ability to replenish theirs.

A logical assumption (based on second and third order effects) then is that immediately after the Rapture of the Church, the world is cast headlong into a temporary state of chaos. That is somewhat hard for us to wrap our minds around, given we have largely benefited from a stable world over the last 70-plus years. Despite the issues we have had since the last period of global chaos (World War II), life on terra firma has largely held steady and provided a period of relative normalcy.

The nation-states (for the most part) have operated in a functional manner. Wars were largely confined to individual nations (ex. Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan) rather than across the globe. International trade and currencies proliferated amongst the nations. Aside from the occasional weather phenomenon, global travel has greatly expanded and remained unimpeded. IOW, things have remained relatively stable and peaceful. That has all been a result of a stable and somewhat benevolent super-state like the United States. Given the state of the world as it is currently, the United States is still the largest economy, still has the most powerful military, and is still the single greatest roadblock to global governance.

[For the purposes of this article, we will simply use 10% of the American population as a mark on the wall.]

If the Rapture happened tomorrow and ten-percent of the US population simply disappeared in an instant that would equal around 31 million Americans who are no longer contributing to our economy and society. Since the early 1980s, the Greatest Generation has begun being replaced with the Baby Boomers. Each subsequent generation has continued to deteriorate in terms of national identity and unanimity. Our society today is more akin to America 1860, than we are America 1960. If the Rapture happened in 1945, the US may have recovered. But we are far too divided and weakened today to survive a major natural disaster, much less something like the Rapture.

1. The US is highly polarized today, with about half the nation ideologically/politically pitted against the other. Whether it is liberal versus conservative, or capitalist versus socialist, black vs. white, gay vs. straight, or simply Democrat versus Republican, we are a much-divided nation ideologically. The elections of Barack Hussein Obama and Donald Trump have only further heightened that division.

2. The US recently crossed the $22T threshold regarding our national debt. If we included all the future promised expenditures, i.e., the unfunded liabilities (Social Security, Medicare, etc.), we are well over $100T mark in debt. This means that even without a Rapture-event scenario, the United States as we knew it, will not survive into the near future without some kind of radical governmental overhaul.

3. The rest of the industrialized/modernized world is in equally similar (or worse) shape economically speaking. Most of the industrialized world either have huge debt to GDP ratios, have failing economies, or do not have the adequate infrastructure to sustain their economic growth.

Therefore, if the Rapture took place tomorrow, and 31 million Americans were instantaneously removed, the sudden loss of income, wages, rents, taxes, and the loss of the societal contributions would absolutely destabilize an already fragile political and economic system. That destabilization would trigger a domino effect across a world that is equally fragile and unstable.

About the best example we can come to seeing what this looks like, was the 1929 Stock Market crash. That crash triggered a series of economic collapses around the world and crushed nations who were already struggling financially. The Stock Market Crash of 1929 also provided the perfect opportunity for a man like Adolph Hitler to rise to power in Germany. A future scenario similar to that of 1929 would create the prime opportunity for a man like the Antichrist to emerge from the shadows.

“And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; Daniel 9:26-27

From somewhere within the boundaries of the old Roman Empire, will come one, who will confirm (or increase) some covenant with the many (many nations), for one week of years (or seven-years). We can be certain that this has not happened historically, so we know that this is still a future event.

How it happens

European leaders such as Winston Churchill, Nicolas Sarkozy, Emmanuel Macron, Donald Tusk, Jean Claude Juncker, and others have long had on their mind a vision to revive the greatness of Europe. As of 2019, they have not yet had the means to do so. Going back to 1947, Europe has undergone a process of piece-meal unification via treatise to make that happen. So far, this has resulted in a fractured and somewhat dysfunctional economic and political alliance. They barely have an Army, and practically no Air Force or Navy. NATO (the current military force for the EU) is truly only functional because it is being led by the United States. Once the US is no longer taking the lead in NATO, it will fall apart and NATO will be drafted into the European Defence Force.

The EU has many serious issues (both foreign and domestic), of which they really cannot get a handle on, let alone, take on the mantel of replacing the US as the world’s next superpower if we were to collapse. Since there is presumably far fewer born-again Christian’s in the EU than the US, it would be another logical assumption that internally, the EU would take far less of a hit than the US would when the Rapture does occur. That is to say, the EU would be in better shape after the Rapture, than it is before. The same could be said for much of the Middle East, Russia, and Asia.

Presupposing a US collapse (breakdown of all normal societal and governmental functions), what remains in the US is a hodge-podge of secure zones, surrounded by large swaths of lawless areas. At this point, the world has about three choices for who can/will take the mantle of becoming the new top dog: Russia, China, or the European Union. Given that, the world has seen what Russia and China are capable of (Stalin, Iron Curtain, Great Leap Forward, etc.); the world will likely favor a European-led confederacy. Add into this, the demise of the Gog-Magog coalition (Russia, Turkey, Libya, Sudan, and Iran), the choices are now largely the Kings of the East (a China-led coalition), or the European confederacy, comprised of ten regions.

In order for the EU to propose any sort of challenge to the China or Russia, it would need to capitalize on the things it has excelled at, which is technology and economics. The EU still wants their great military forces (as treaties and stability are meaningless without the threat of power). Logistically speaking, it would take time to transfer the wealth, power, and people of those who were left behind in the US to the newly ascending European Union (and/or Union of the Mediterranean). This is also assuming that people would want to leave the New World for the Old World, but if the US were to return to its wild and ungovernable roots, many would flee the Americas to get back to some sense of normalcy.

So how does the Antichrist take power and revive the old Roman Empire (the EU and UfM) to take over the entire earth in the last days?

The same way Hitler did.

He took advantage of chaos and uncertainty.

This is why I believe there is a gap in time between the Rapture and the start of the 70th Week of Daniel (aka…the Tribulation). Note that Adolph Hitler did not rise to power at a time when Germany was prospering and politically stable; he rose to power when things were in utter shambles. Back then in 1929, the US Stock Market crashed, triggering numerous economic crashes around the world. Germany was still suffering under the auspices of the financial penalties from the post-WWI Versailles Treaty. When the stock market crashed, they literally hit rock bottom. Using Hitler, as an example as an antichrist, the one thing we take note of, is that it took time for him to do what he did.

  • Hitler’s political climb to power started in 1929 and continued through his ascension to the Chancellorship in 1933= four years.
  • Hitler’s domestic consolidation of power began in 1933 and continued through 1938, when he annexed Czechoslovakia and the Sudetenland= five years.

Therefore, it took nine years from the 1929 to 1938 before Hitler’s true ambitions came to the forefront. If the Rapture of the Church triggers a similar economic shockwave around the world such as the 1929 Stock Market Crash, then conservatively speaking, we could see the Antichrist rise to power in half that time, or about 4.5 years.

The timing would have to be right for a leader to step in and fill the vacuum that an absent US would present. However, this man would still need the logistical means to resource and finance his ambitions. This is where advancements in technology and the Mark of the Beast system comes into view. This man (the Antichrist) would first have to contend with a number of systemic and emerging issues and problem sets that would prevent him from completely taking over IF the Rapture happened tomorrow:

1. The sudden removal of 31M US citizens would destabilize the US Dollar causing it to collapse. When it does, it will drag every other fiat currency down with it. This means not only economic instability ensue, but also political, military, and societal chaos. The only solution to this problem is to convert the world’s economies over to a new form of currency. This means that the world would already have to be close to such technology for that to be feasible. In 2019, we are already there.

2. The war on truth (fake news, information leaks, disinformation, etc.) has become every bit as real as any other military conflict. IF the economies of the world collapse, and societal chaos ensues, no one will know whom to trust to a far greater degree than even today. The Antichrist would need to use this new financial system as a forcing-function to create absolute, politically loyalty.

3. THE world is currently divided amongst nationalists and globalists. The happy medium between these two polarized viewpoints is regionalization. Divide nations amongst regions, so that the nation states can still keep some semblance of autonomy (the EU is largely like this today), but are grouped in regions so that they can be more manageable. The Club of Rome (See here) have already created a map detailing this plan.

4. While the political world of today refuses to acknowledge the spiritual domain, the Antichrist will absolutely embrace it. He will do so through infusing technology (some form of quantum-based artificial intelligence) into his body. His super-power as it were, will be the most superior intellect the world has ever seen. He will have perfect ability to recall any bit of information ever conceived of by man and use it for his advantage. Through the help of another person called the False Prophet (who really does have supernatural powers), the Antichrist will begin to consolidate his power amongst the other regional leaders (Dan. 7:7-8, 19-25). Lastly and most importantly, Satan will give him all the kingdoms of the earth (Luke 4:5-7).

In Summary

  • According to 2nd Thessalonians 2:7-8, the Antichrist cannot be revealed until AFTER the Rapture of the Church.

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed…

  • According to Revelation 4:1-2 and 5:8-10, Christ begins to open the Seals after the church has already been caught up to heaven.

After these things (after the church age) I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this (after the church age).” Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. (Emphasis mine)

  • The Antichrist cannot begin his conquest, until Christ opens the first Seal.

Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come and see.” And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. Revelation 6:1-2

  • Therefore, the Antichrist will not be in a position to confirm any covenant with anyone, until he is politically/militarily/economically in a position to do so and…

Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; Daniel 9:26-27

  • One cannot negotiate from a position of weakness. Antichrist must be in a position of power to set the terms, enforce the regulations or laws of the treaty, in order for anyone to abide by it.

So many things have to happen between the Rapture and the start of the Tribulation (Gog and Magog War, rebuilding of the Third Jewish Temple, power transfer to the EU) that it becomes logistically impossible to do it all within the seven-year period of the 70th Week proper. With that said, if you understand the gap required, you need not manipulate your Pre-Tribulation Rapture position to fit current events.

Next Week, Volume II: The Mark of the Beast

An Hour Ye Think Not

0

Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”  Matthew 24:1-3

One of the most common rebukes used to discourage people from studying prophecy or the Rapture of the Church is a passage taken from Jesus in the Olivet Discourse. In Matthew 24:36, Jesus states but of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. On the surface, it appears that Jesus was trying to dissuade His disciples from trying figure out when exactly all these fantastical things He had just shared with them would occur. Yet, if Jesus was really trying to dissuade them from knowing, why explain in such great detail all the things He does concerning the original three questions they asked?

At the time of the Olivet Discourse, Jesus had not been arrested, tried, crucified, or resurrected so even the events surrounding even that very week was not fully clear to the disciples. At His arrest, the disciples scattered, Peter would go on to deny Christ three times, and they would watch in agony as their Messiah is publicly and humiliatingly nailed to a cross. Even after His resurrection and subsequent forty days amongst them, the disciples were still in confusion as to what was to happen next.

Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:6-8

Assessment

We have the luxury today of reading all these events in our neatly chaptered and versed Bibles with a great deal of theological, historical, and archeological hindsight. We often read into the text this idea that the disciples should have known what was is clearly plain to us. They did not have a New Testament explaining all this to them. It would not be for some time after Christ ascended in which these future things would be revealed to them.

After Pentecost, God the Holy Spirit was now showing the Apostles all the things, which would take place for them then and in the days to come. This knowledge was not all given to Peter or James, but to each according to their ministry and to what God wanted them to know at the appropriate time. It was to the Apostle Paul that Christ revealed the mystery of this new creation known as the Church. Pulling from an ever growing Gentile audience and consisting of both Jew and Gentile converts, the Church would become in Christ neither Jew nor Gentile. The Church would become a hybrid and unique entity conceived at Pentecost by the giving of the Holy Spirit and would continue to grow until some future point when the fullness of the Gentiles is complete.

God’s mechanism for transferring His attention and purposes from the Church back to Israel, is known as the Rapture of the Church. This event accomplishes several things, the first of which is fulfilling a promise Christ made to them (and us) in the Upper Room Discourse (John 14:1-3). That if He went away (He did), that He would return and take us to be where He is (He will). Then God would return His focus solely back upon the nation of Israel to finish that final week of Daniel’s Seventy Weeks of which He determined (chathak) to them that He would complete the six items listed below.

“Seventy weeks are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
(1) To finish the transgression,
(2) To make an end of sins,
(3) To make reconciliation for iniquity,
(4) To bring in everlasting righteousness,
(5) To seal up vision and prophecy,
(6) And to anoint the Most Holy. Dan. 9:24 (emphasis mine)

These things HAVE to happen. As mentioned in my article last week, God does not shrink away from revealing specific things to us and for us. On one hand, we have God revealing via the Angel Gabriel to Daniel the exact timing of Christ’s First Advent to the earth as the God-Man. This ended exactly at the 69th week with the Messiah being cut off. On the other, what is not revealed to Daniel (or later to the disciples), is the 2,000-year gap in time we now refer to as the Church Age or the Dispensation of Grace. This is a unique time for a body of believers from every tribe, tongue, and nation who are brought into the singularly corporate body of Christ. This global drawing is what Paul referred to as the fullness of the Gentiles in Romans 11:25. It is a summation of what Jesus stated in two passages within Matthew’s gospel.

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matt. 28:17-19

Having now two thousand years of church history behind us, we can see with crystal-clear clarity that the Gospel has indeed gone out into all the nations. This is not to say that the Gospel has been embraced by every nation and taken root, but you can bet there are believers in every nation on earth and believers of every major tribe and tongue. This is why Satan has worked so diligently to blanket the earth with as many antichristian governments and religions as possible (e.g.…Communism, Islam, atheism, etc.).

However, this brings me back to the original issue regarding Matthew 24:36; can we know when Christ will return at His Second Advent?

  • The answer absolutely yes. It will be seven years from the start of that final 70th Week.
  • What we cannot know is when that final week will start. That final week will not commence until after the Church is removed at the Rapture. The Rapture is indirectly tied to the covenant by way of sequential events. The Rapture will trigger the geopolitical reordering of the power on earth, allowing a covenant to be made at a future point by Israel with the many (Dan. 9:27).

Both the Church and subsequently the Church Age were a mystery both to Daniel and the other Old Testament Prophets as well as to the disciples. The disciples, as mentioned previously, asked Christ when He would restore the Kingdom to Israel. They were still thinking in terms of the Old Testament prophecies and promises, which had been made to Israel. It would not be until the Apostle Paul later reveals that the Church has a different timeline and destiny than that of national Israel. Speaking to the believers at the church at Ephesus Paul writes…

…having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. Eph.1:9-10

Paul had shared with the church in Rome…

For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. Romans 11:25

Conclusion

We cannot know the day or hour of the Rapture simply because the Church as an extension of Christ Himself (we are His body), adopted heirs, and an object of His affection will continue to grow and mature until this fullness of the Gentiles comes to a culmination point. Will that culmination point be in 2017? It might be…but I do not know for certain. However, I do believe 2017 will be significant to Israel if the historical pattern holds true (1897, 1917, 1947, 1967, 1977, and 1987). [As it turns out, it was!]

This fullness of the Gentiles serves as a bookend of sorts, capping the age of the church from Pentecost until Rapture. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came to earth in spectacular fashion (Acts. 2:1-4). At the Rapture, those Spirit-sealed believers are also removed from the earth in spectacular fashion (Ephesians 1:11-14; 1 Cor. 15:51-55).

The Church is the singular, corporate, multi-membered body of Christ. I am not saying that no other person (Jew or Gentile) will be saved after the Rapture. We know that they do according to Rev. 6:9-11 amongst other Revelation passages. In truth, the Gospel will continue into the Tribulation by the 144,000 Jewish male virgins and with the angelic proclamations in the Heavens (Rev. 14:6-7), but those who come to faith after the Rapture are not Church-Age saints.

Some might argue this point, but considering all the variations, we plainly see within humanity, within the angelic ranks, and within creation itself, speaks volumes to the idea that within the redeemed, there is also variation and distinctions. The Church-Age saints are as distinct from the Old Testament saints (or pre-Christ saints), as they will be from the post-Rapture saints. The main distinction itself coming from the knowledge of Christ. The OT Saints knew a Messiah would come, but they did not know exactly who, when, or how. They had faith that One would come and this time of waiting was completed with John the Baptist.

You yourselves bear me witness that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before Him.’ He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:28-30

The Church’s knowledge of Christ and His first coming but were not eyewitnesses to it (except for those in Christ’s day). We have to take things by faith and by God’s word.

Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:29

Those who come to faith after the Rapture will be plunged into the darkest period of human history replete with supernatural signs, wonders, and judgments, as well as having witnessed the Rapture event itself. This fullness of the Gentiles is not to be confused with the times of the Gentiles which does not find its completion until the end of the seven-year Tribulation (Luke 21:24).

Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.  “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. Matt. 24:32-36 (emphasis mine)

We often get hung up with the identity of the fig tree. But whether we attribute it to the nation of Israel (Judges 9:10-11; Jeremiah 24:1-10; Hosea 9:10; Mark 11:12-14; etc.), or not, we understand the intent of the parable. Christ said when its branch has become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. He didn’t say you may know, or you might know, but He said, you know.

Christ spent His precious time and energy conveying to His disciples (and to us) these signs of the times so that we will know that the season is near, even at the doors! If 2017 holds true to historical patterns, then something significant should happen as it regards to Israel (i.e.…the fig tree). That means God is getting ready to conclude this current Church Age, and return His focus back to the nation of Israel. He did not bring her back out of national extinction and diaspora, to continue on indefinitely with both her and the Church  in play. That overlap will come to an end just as it did before and He will finish what He started with her regarding Daniel’s 70 Weeks.

Like a countdown, we have seen 120, 100, 70, 50, 40, and 30 year-markers as well as three Jubilee cycles (two of which overlap) happening in the same period of time. Perhaps 2017 does come and go without a peep and we are still here. At this point, then I would really be looking up. Either 2017 comes and goes, or we do, but therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect (Matt. 24:44).

The Paradox of a Righteous Lot

0

Most of us alive here in America tend to see the world with a western worldview.  This worldview works fine for everyday life, but can cause the average western believer consternation when trying to make sense of certain parts of the Scriptures.  All Scripture is giving by inspiration of God through the Holy Spirit (2 Tim 3:16), but what we fail to sometimes take into account, was that the men who physically wrote the Bible, were all from the Oriental world.

The Old Testament was written almost entirely in Hebrew and with a small portion in Aramaic.  The New Testament was written entirely in Koine Greek (the common vernacular of the day).  Nevertheless, it was Jewish men, who thought with a Hebraic mindset, which wrote both Old and New Testaments.  Therefore, when we modern westerners get to certain parts of the scriptures, the text seems to be paradoxical and we often times get perplexed at the seeming contradictions.

However, to the Hebrew mind, opposing ideas could be equally accepted at the same time.  Patterns that formed cycles were key to understanding the fullness of the entirety of the message.  The Hebrew culture (like other eastern cultures) used what has been deemed, “block logic”, and in Marvin Wilson’s “Our Father Abraham—Jewish Roots of the Christian Faith”, he makes some interesting points about the two:

The use of what may be termed block logic is another important contour of Hebrew thought. Greek logic, which has to a large extent influenced the Western world, was different. The Greeks often used a tightly contained step logic whereby one would argue from premises to a conclusion, each step linked tightly to the next in coherent, rational, logical fashion. The conclusion, however, was usually limited to one point of view—the human being’s perception of reality

and…

The Hebrew knew he did not know all the answers. His position was ‘under the sun’ (Ecc. 8:17), so his words were few (5:2). He refused to over-systematize or forced harmonization on the enigmas of God’s truth or the puzzles of the universe. He realized that no one could straighten what God has made crooked (7:13). All things, therefore, did not need to be fully rational. The Hebrew mind was willing to accept the truths taught on both sides of the paradox; it recognized that mystery and apparent contradictions are often signs of the divine.  Stated succinctly, the Hebrews knew the wisdom of learning to trust in matters that they could not fully understand.

In layman’s terms, those influenced in western thought, i.e.…the Greco-Roman world-view, understood things in a linear, logical manner. We try to apply logic to a problem in order to come up with the most logical solution.  Applying this type of mental methodology to Bible prophecy, can often times frustrates the purpose, which then causes confusion.  Marvin Wilson provides some excellent examples in which ‘block logic’ is used in Scriptures:

The book of Exodus says that Pharaoh hardened his heart, but it also says that God hardened it (Ex. 8:15; cf. 7:3). The prophets teach that God is both wrathful and merciful (Isa. 45:7Hab. 3:2). The New Testament refers to [Yeshua] as the ‘Lamb of God’ and the ‘Lion of the tribe of Judah’ (Jn. 1:2936Rev. 5:5). Hell is described as both ‘blackest darkness’ and the fiery lake’ (Jude 13Rev. 19:20). In terms of salvation, [Yeshua] said, ‘whoever comes to me I will never drive away,’ yet no one can come ‘unless the Father draws him’ (Jn. 6:3744). To find life you must lose it (Mt. 10:39). When you are weak, then you are strong (2 Cor. 12:10). The way up (exaltation) is the way down (humility) (Lk. 14:11). ‘Jacob have I loved and Esau have I hated’ (Rom. 9:13Mal. 1:3).

Block logic is the mindset, that one can accept two opposing ideas as both equally true… it all depends on whose perception one is looking through.

Old Testament Lot

Throughout the entirety of his account beginning in Genesis chapter 11, through chapter 19, Lot was always living in the shadow of his older cousin Abram (Abraham).   When they arrived at Canaan, Abram gave him the choice cut of land and they parted ways.  A little later on, some wicked kings kidnapped Lot and Abram had to come to the rescue.  From there, the Lord and two angels visit Abraham and give him a heads up, that they were going to visit Sodom and Gomorrah, and then destroy it.  Abraham, knowing Lot lived there, asked one of the most pivotal questions that sets the tone for the rest of the Scriptures:

And Abraham came near and said, “Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked?           Genesis 18:23

Two angels were dispatched to Sodom and Gomorrah, and there Lot met them at the gate.  He persuaded them to come back to his house because he knew the kind of evil that would befall these visitors should they remain out in the open.  However, this did not stop the men of the city from surrounding Lot’s house and attempting to break down the door to get to them.  Lot does what any “red-blooded father” would do…and he offers up his two daughters in exchange for these visitors safety.  The outraged mob attempt to rush Lot and the visitors…

In addition, they (the mob) said,

“Stand back!” Then they said, “This one (Lot) came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.” So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door.  But the men reached out their hands and pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. And they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they became weary trying to find the door. Genesis 19:9-11

From there, the two visitors and Lot with family in tow depart the city early in the morning.  Lot’s wife looks back and is turned into a pillar of salt.  Lot ends up in the mountains with his two daughters, and they get him drunk and seduce him so they could be impregnated.

Impressed yet?

Seems like Lot is always getting himself into some kind of precarious situation.

New Testament Lot

Lot is referenced twice in the New Testament; first in Luke 17, when Jesus referencing what the world will be like when He returns, pointed back to the wickedness of that time.  The second mention is by the Apostle Peter.  And here, Peter gives three different examples of the punishment in which God had served in the past to curb the wickedness in the world: the fallen angels who left their first estate and copulated with human women, the wicked people in Noah’s day, and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah in Lot’s day…

….and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)— 2 Peter 2:7-8

WHAT?!  Did I miss something in the Genesis account?  Three times, Peter was moved by the Holy Spirit to call this man Lot righteous.  What did we see of this man’s life and actions in the Old Testament that would warrant him being addressed as righteous now?

Remember that thing about ‘block logic’?  There is where our perception and God’s, see things differently.

The Church

Just turn on the news or read the Drudge Report one day and you can quickly see the awful wickedness that permeates this day and age we live in.  Lot’s circumstance was just a microcosm of what we experience today.  Both news and travel have greatly increased (Dan 12:4), and we know what’s going on in the world as it happens. Since bad news sells better than good news, we are inundated with as much of it as one can take.

Whether it’s horrific crimes committed against the innocent, or wars, pestilence, famines, and corruption, you can be sure that no matter where you look, you don’t have to look hard.  For those of us who watch the signs of the times, it can make you weary and long for the Lord to return.  Even now we are being oppressed by the filthy conduct that is being pressed on us to accept as normal by the “civilized” world.  The issues includes: drugs, gay marriage, abortion, anti-Christian propaganda, euthanasia, apostate and false religious movements, genetic engineering, and violence perpetrated against the Church in many parts of the world.

Is your soul tormented?  If it’s not, then your head is in the proverbial hole in the sand.  Remember, we are tri-partite beings: body, soul, and spirit.  Even though one is saved (revived spirit), our souls (the conscious) is being tested like never before.  The floodgates of evil are being opened and we are getting just a taste of what’s going to be turned loose during the Tribulation.  Even now, we are weary and long to be home in heaven with our Savior.

For those who don’t watch for the Lord’s soon return, it’s just business as usual.  And that attitude often feeds the frustration many of us feel when sharing the gospel with urgency we know…with the apathetic or spiritually blinded who don’t know how close to the end we really are, nor do they want to know.

The Pattern and the Plan

According to the Strong’s Lexicon, Lot’s name in Hebrew means “Covering” and since he had to be removed prior to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, we too will be removed prior to the Wrath of God being poured out on this world.  As the body of Christ on earth, we are inhabited and sealed by the Holy Spirit, overcomers chosen by God before the foundation of the world ever came to be (Eph 1:4). [The Plan]  At the Rapture, the Holy Spirit’s ministry of restraint is likewise removed, and God’s wrath is poured out on a Christ rejecting world.  When the covering is removed, God’s wrath was poured out on the plains cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. When the Church is removed (along with the Restrainer) the wrath will be poured out.  This pattern is repeated throughout the Scriptures.  God does not destroy the righteous with the wicked. [The Pattern] Although we don’t see much righteousness in Lot’s testimony, God did.  Although we don’t have much to brag about ourselves, God sees us as righteous through the shed blood of His Son on the cross at Calvary.  It may not always make sense to us, but it does to God.  And I love it when God’s plan comes together!

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:2

The Things We Leave Behind

2

One of the biggest obstacles people have about becoming a Christian is that they think once you do, all the fun has to end.  Like entering the priesthood where the only thing they have to look forward too is celibacy and endless sermons.  They see only the negatives of ‘thou shall not’s’, and none of the liberty and freedom that is found in Christ.

Our Religion

Churches across the fruited plain are filled with row after row of ‘pious’ people, who you would think their face would crack in two if they ever tried to smile.  This is in large part due to the preachers and pastors, who so convince their congregations that their moral traditions are the sole way to Jesus, that they feverishly build a fence around their dogma to keep their flocks in, it also effectively keeps many out.  We should be known for our love, not our ability to be religious. Religion in and of itself, has never saved ANYONE.

However, being loving does not relieve us of our responsibility to be discerning. Jesus told His disciples to be wise as serpents, but gentle as doves when going out amongst the wolves (Matt. 10:16).  We can only have discernment when we are filled with the Spirit and spend time in His word. These two derive from having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. A relationship is not the same thing as a religion. Religions are ideologies filled with rituals, doctrines, and works which brings a person (in their mind) closer to their god in an attempt to make themselves worthy to said god. A personal relationship with the Creator of the Universe, highlights our inability to save ourselves, because when we understand who God is, then we know we can never measure up to His standard of righteousness. Only Jesus can make us acceptable to God, by accepting His free offer of salvation (John 3:16).

Our Experiences

A man who has friends must himself be friendly,
But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24

Our past experiences help shape our worldviews and act as a rudder if you will for the decisions we will make in the future.  They can be beneficial if used properly, but no one ever moved very far forward in life, when stuck living in the past.  Some may have had a bad experience at a church, or with ‘Christians’ and have sworn them and their Jesus off forever.  Often times, when bad things happen, people shake an angry, clenched fist at God and harden their hearts.

This can be an extremely difficult barrier to overcome, because no one can persuade you otherwise, from what you know you experienced.  Maybe a clergy abused you, or some person at church swindled you out of some hard-earned money.  What I can offer is that all people are flawed, and unfortunately, Christians are human too.

However, consider this, that Jesus was more than just a human…He was also fully God.  He did not have to come to earth to die for yours and my sins, but chose to because of His infinite love for us.  Do not add insult to injury by rejecting the one perfect, holy, blameless man…because of some injury to you by someone claiming to be His representative.  Put your faith and trust in God, and let Him sort out the bad seeds from the genuine believers.

Do not judge Christianity or Christ by someone who did you wrong, way back when.  Christ can be a friend who sticks closer than a brother.  Not only will He never betray you, and He will never forsake you.  Even when you are at the lowest point in your life, He will love you when no one else would.

Our Reasoning

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.             1 Corinthians 2:14

In today’s modern world, becoming a Christian has also been likened to a kind of mental disease.  Like entering an old mental asylum, in which the sign over the door forebodingly states “Abandon all hope all ye that enter!”  Becoming a born-again believer is attuned to abandoning all reason, because we believe in a God that no one can see, that much is true, but the evidence for the God of the Bible is overwhelming.

To the unbeliever, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is foolishness because it denies mankind the ability to claim any kind of credit for our own salvation.  That is what makes Christianity unique.  EVERY other religion states that you must DO something to make amends with either some god or fellow man in order to reach Paradise, Heaven, Nirvana, Kolob, etc.  Christian salvation is solely founded on one thing that distinguishes us from any other life form on this planet, and that is our ability to think and reason.  We have to willingly make that decision to come to Christ.  When we abandon our own attempts at saving ourselves, and cling instead to Jesus Christ, then and only then, can we have peace with God through His Son.

Material Desires

Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.” Mark 10:21

Of note in this account, is that Jesus had not yet gone to the cross.  At that point in time, the cross was not only a cruel instrument of torture, but to the Jew was a symbol of damnation.  Jesus was looking into this young man’s heart and could see that his wealth was his security blanket.  He had been faithful to the commandments (religion), but was more reliant upon his earthly possessions than he was of God.  Therefore, by Jesus telling him to sell all his possessions, he was to deny this world.  By picking up his cross, he has to deny himself, even to his health.  This way of thinking runs counter too many within the health, wealth, and prosperity gospel movement that has become popular in American churchianity these days.

This World

“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”  Philippians 3:20-21

To the Christian who has one foot in each world, remember Lot’s wife.  We are not to get too attached to this world, nor the things there in.  Why so many Christians have become fixated on this world, is in part again, denominational religions fault.   When the Church refuses to teach all of God’s word, they have to fill that large prophetic void with something, and that something usually only focuses on the here and now, rather than on things to come.

When you turn your life over to Jesus Christ, you are made a new creation.  No longer are you just an inhabitant of this world, but have a new citizenship in heaven with God.  The moment you become a Christian, you begin to live in eternity.  At best, a person can hope to live to be about a hundred years here in this life.  Those last few decades can be tough on the body, and you usually end up having to have someone care for you.  Such a short period of time when considering that the moment you die, you will be staring into the face of eternity.

Conclusion

There is a freedom in Jesus Christ that the world cannot fathom.  What is that freedom?  It is in no longer being under the curse of sin, condemnation, death, and judgment.  It is liberating, because we no longer have a death sentence hanging over our head.

Seeing as we still inhabit these sin-prone bodies (tents of flesh) and we still live in a fallen world that is temporarily controlled by Satan, we still in our flesh have to ‘work out’ (think exercise) our salvation with fear and trembling.  We as Christians still have to stand before Jesus Christ in judgment, but not for our salvation.  We will stand before Jesus Christ at the Bema Judgment for the things done for Christ in this life, whether good or bad.  Is what we did for Jesus done for our own purposes, or did we do it for the glory of God?  We rest assured that our eternal destinies are secured in the victory that Christ wrought for us at the cross, 2,000 years ago, where all of our sins-past, present, and future were wiped away.

In Christ we enter our Sabbath rest, unable to work our own attempts at keeping our salvation, but find peace through His perfect, atoning death, burial, and resurrection.  A peace so satisfying that all of the money in the world could not purchase.  When you choose to allow God to use you, He will work the miraculous through you, affecting everyone around you.  A life filled with purpose and meaningfulness, worthy of your calling, and hopeful of the life that is still to come.  Our best life isn’t here on this fallen planet; it is in our glorified eternal bodies, reigning with Christ.  So let us cast aside all these meaningless distractions that would either keep you from coming to Christ, or keep the Christian from living the life Christ has called you to live.

Has this world been so kind to you that you should leave with regret? There are better things ahead than any we leave behind. CS Lewis

A lot like Lot

0

by Pete Garcia–

Like many of you, I have grown increasingly uncomfortable living in a nation where so much evil is blissfully ignored and tolerated on a daily basis. Wickedness, perversity, debauchery, violence, occultism, transgenderism, homosexuality, and all the rest have seemingly become the new normal. Everything is permissible in today’s America, so long as it is not Christian or conservative.

Imagine living on an island near a large, towering, volcano. You may have decided to move there because the scenery was gorgeous, the land was cheap, and the volcano was long thought to be extinct. Years may have passed and aside from the scenery, you never gave much thought to that monstrosity of a mountain on your horizon, nor the potential danger it could present. One day, the once dormant volcano began to show signs of life. At first, it was a series of sporadic gentle rumbles, but then, the rumbling came more frequently and intensely. The next thing you know, there is a smoke plume coming out of the top. It is at this point that you may have begun to think through your life-choices like why you ever decided to buy some land right next to a volcano. That is what it feels like to live in the new pagan United States of America, 2019.

Assessment

While the island-volcano scenario might seem a bit simplistic given the complexities of our day and age, it is no less accurate in detailing the amount of mortal danger this world is precariously on the threshold of. If you were to trade the words volcano with the wrath of God, you would see that the smoke and rumbling is not coming out of a volcano, but from the very throne of God. While it is true that God is longsuffering, and would that none should perish (2 Peter 3:9-10), He is not indifferent to our plight, nor man’s wickedness. God is also not powerless to act. Just because He has not acted yet, does not mean He will never act. Those who believe otherwise, subscribe to a form of lunacy known as the normalcy bias.

The normalcy bias, or normality bias, is a mental state people enter when facing a disaster. It causes people to underestimate both the possibility of a disaster and its possible effects. This may result in situations where people fail to adequately prepare and, on a larger scale, the failure of governments to include the populace in its disaster preparations. (Source)

Some 1,656 years had passed from the fall of Adam and Eve, until the flood of Noah’s day. During the years leading up to the flood, God had forewarned Noah that he only had 120 years left (Gen. 6:3) before everything would be destroyed. In the meantime, Noah worked on the ark, prepared for the journey, and preached (2 Peter 2:5). In all that 120 years, he did not have single convert (that we know of). Then, God, had them enter the Ark, and He sealed the doors behind them. The deep opened up, the rains began to fall, and soon after, the whole of creation was subjected to a watery grave.

Many Bible scholars and experts believe that prior to the flood, the world had achieved a population level equal to our day today. Along with a massive population was the level of wickedness. The bible states that then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil (Gen. 6:5). Wickedness was worldwide, and all of humanity lived unconstrained doing whatever they wanted.

Several centuries after the Great Flood, a man named Abraham came west from the land of Ur with his nephew Lot and settled in the land of Canaan. Over time, farming and grazing issues began to arise between their herdsmen, and they decided to separate and split the land of Canaan between them. Having the first choice, Lot decided to settle in the cities located on the lush plains of Jordan (Gen. 13:10-12), while Abraham remained on the plains of Mamre.

After some time had passed, the area Lot had chosen had become a hotbed of wickedness. It is at this point; that God intends on making an example of these two cities, and He tells Abraham of His intentions. Remembering that his nephew still dwells there, Abraham begins a series of plea-bargaining with the Lord and ultimately concludes with a very pointed and crucial question;

Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” Gen. 18:25

Therefore, before judgment rains down on the two cities, God performs a rescue mission using His angelic messenger to work on Abraham’s behalf. Only Lot, his wife, and two daughters escape with their lives. As in the case with Noah, God would not subject the righteous to His wrath until they were safe; so too, God restrained His fiery judgment until Lot and family were safely away (Gen. 19:22).

And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. Luke 17:26-30

During the Noahic Flood, only eight persons survived. During the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, approximately half of that (four) escaped the city, with one being destroyed for her hesitation on the way out (Gen. 19:25-26). The commonality between both events (both global and localized) was that wickedness had reached and then crossed over a certain threshold.

Recently on Jan Markell’s radio program, Jan’s co-host Jill Martin Rische mentioned something that I had not previously considered; Satan has changed tactics. If you go back fifteen years ago and beyond, you would not have seen such an open and overt display of Satanism and occultism as we are seeing now in mainstream pop culture. True, we have always had Satanism in the fringe groups and the like, but it has only been recently that outright Satanism has come out of the closet. We now have satanic groups lobbying to have statues of pentagrams and Baphomet (surrounded by children) put on public display all around the nation.

In the 1960s thru 1990s, Satanism was carefully concealed in things like Eastern Mysticism and Spiritualism, the New Age movement, and subtly in Hollywood and Academia. Now we have mainstream shows on virtually every channel, all trying to out-shock each other. Here is but a small sampling of what passes for entertainment these days,

  • The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch
  • Lucifer (Seasons 1 and 2)
  • The Apostle
  • Damien
  • The Preacher
  • Supernatural
  • American Horror Story
  • Ghost Adventures (really all the paranormal-chasing reality shows)
  • True Detective
  • True Blood
  • Charmed
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Conclusion

Like many of you, I experienced a range of emotions when I found out that New York had just passed a law allowing for abortions up to the end of the third trimester. The jumble of emotions ranged from outrage and disgust to sadness and shame (for our nation). On the heels of this sickening news, the state of Virginia has offered up legislation that would allow for the murder of babies even as they are being born.

The revived interest in unfettered infanticide is simply the latest in a long line of attacks against the Judeo-Christian principles this nation was founded upon. There is a dark and malevolent spirit behind the abortion-mill industry (both in the performance of and in the trafficking of human body parts). Abortion on demand is, essentially, the required satanic sacrificial system that fuels the further deadening of America. The shameless promotion of homosexuality, transgenderism, pedophilia, bestiality, and pagan deities are then the symptoms of a nation given over to the spirit of Antichrist. It is this violent and angry new paganism, which is preparing the world for the arrival of their messiah, the Antichrist. And it reeks very much like the old Roman Empire.

The New Paganism utilizes the powers of the State, particularly the law and the courts, in order to change the foundations of a Christianized West and to promote paganism, even barbarism, as the basis of Western society. Barbarism then seeks to use the State to achieve an iron and tyrannous order, beginning with crushing dissenters like Christians, who believe they are to obey God rather than the State…

…The Christian Church must respond vigorously or sink into paganism itself, as is already happening in some Main Line churches that are creating liturgies to bless bodily mutilation as spiritually transformative and as a way of attaining self-salvation. The Church must reject the new barbarism and its tyrannous assault on Christianity or find itself overwhelmed by the avid worshippers of the new gods. For when the God of Christianity is rejected, new and far, far worse gods arise to demand worship.

As Belloc himself concluded: “Men do not live long without gods; but when the gods of the New Paganism come they will not be merely insufficient, as were the gods of Greece, nor merely false; they will be evil. One might put it in a sentence, and say that the New Paganism, foolishly expecting satisfaction, will fall, before it knows where it is, into Satanism.” (State Enforced Paganism in America)

Even though our nation was founded on Christian principles, Satan still managed to slip in some cracks in our national foundation so that he could later poison the water well. Below is a timeline of some of the more noticeable and egregious acts of paganism, which has plagued our nation since its inception. Of note, what was once esoteric and hidden has now been brought out to the open.

Seeing that the US is the greatest obstacle to globalism and a new world order, it is no wonder why the attacks have become so relentless. At the 70-year mark of Israel’s rebirth and pro-Israel, pro-life, and pro-Christian President, Satan knows his time is running short, and he no longer has the luxury of subtlety. The US is under a full-out assault from the demonic realm (Eph. 6:12) and will continue until the Rapture of the Church (1st Thess. 4:13-18). After which, the demonic/spiritual realm will no longer be restrained and it will literally become hell on earth.

Perhaps this is why Jesus alluded to both the days of Noah and the Days of Lot as being similar to the days just before His return and asked later, would He even find faith upon the earth (Luke 18:8). Just as there were rampant paranormal and malevolent forces acting then (Gen. 6:1-4, Jude 1:6-7), so too are these forces alive and active in our day. As bad is it seems now, it will be multiplied a hundredfold the second after the Rapture of the Church takes place. This is because there has always been a direct correlation between sexual deviancy, bloodshed of the innocent, and the rise of violence. These all attribute too and are results of, the overarching rise of wickedness.

It has been nearly 2,000 years since Christ walked the earth and if historical and biblical patterns remain true to form, then we should be at the very cusp of His return. However, before the wrath of the Lamb is unleashed upon this dark and malevolent earth, Christ will remove the righteous from the wicked. We are truly living in very vexing and troublesome times. If you are not “vexed” as a Christian in 2019 America, then you might want to check your spiritual pulse.

For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)— then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.                        2nd Peter 2:4-11

Even so, Maranatha!

The Turn of the Tide: Part II

Detailed big breaking wave with spray. North of Portugal.

By Pete Garcia–

But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase. Daniel 12:4

For most of human history, things moved at the speed of horse. However, once man crossed the threshold into the 20th-century, prophetic events began to quicken noticeably. Corresponding to that, and unbeknownst to most, was the shadowy undercurrent of globalism moving behind the scenes. Dating back to the days of Nimrod and the Tower of Babel (Gen. 11), globalism has finally reached its crescendo here in the 21st-century. After a century of dumbing down the masses through socialist indoctrination (public education) and a massive propaganda campaign of human secularism (media/pop culture), globalism has finally come out of the closet. Today, politicians, business leaders, organizations, communists, socialists, and industrialists of all stripes, have all begun to openly call for and support the effort for a single, universal system….a new world order.

We can see the results of the early globalist efforts at the conclusion of the two great calamities of the 20th century, World War I (League of Nations) and World War II (United Nations). However, once Israel became a nation again in 1948, things began to surge in both speed and intensity. This is the convergence of events, as mentioned in Part I, demonstrably proves, we are the last generation. The initiative for a unified Europe, the rise of the nuclear and the computer age, and global financial systems were all either born on the heel of, or just prior, to Israel’s rebirth.

Also mentioned previously in Part I was one of the two truth-isms that almost every generation believed they could be the last generation. Again, what makes us any different?

Israel and convergence. These are the two immutable signs that we are the last generation.

I have written exhaustively (as have many others) that the return and rebirth of national Israel, is the super-sign of the ages. So in regards to Israel, I will not belabor that point in this brief. Parallel to Israel’s rebirth, is the super-power status granted to her once greatest benefactor, the United States. Today I would like to explore how the collapse of the US, sets up the culmination of the convergence of all the signs, and how they factor into our being the last generation.

The Convergence

The United States is currently the undisputed world champion in regards to who has the most political, military, and economic control over the planet. This is because the world is still largely dependent upon a stable US (economic markets/geopolitical status quo). However, if something catastrophic were to happen to the US, the entirety of the current world system would collapse, instantly. At present, the US is very literally on the precipice of either civil war, or economic ruin (or both).

Some would argue that the years leading up to the American Civil War were far more contentious than they are today to which, I vehemently disagree. The arguments then largely centered on just two major issues, the legitimacy of slavery and rights of states. Today, the divisive issues have been complexified a thousand fold. The division today is not just political or racial, but social, economic, sexual, religious, and ideological. Every pillar that ensures a stable society can stand either is already under assault, or has now buckled due to the attacks upon it. The aforementioned divisions are the unmistakable symptoms of a nation on its deathbed, mere moments before its final collapse. Therefore, I want to list by precedence, those signs of convergence, which point to the inevitability of our demise and the rise of a new order in that vacuum.

Technology

Where the doubling of humanity’s technological advancements used to occur over the course of millennia and centuries are now happening in years and decades. Point of fact, the technological advancements of the 20th-century, dwarfed in one century, what took humanity four-thousand years to achieve. Advancements in the areas of advanced weaponry, manned and unmanned flight, information processing, genetics, artificial intelligence, and communications all lead to one, inescapable conclusion. This being, that whoever controls the most (or the most powerful) advancements, could control everything. For a time (preappointed that is), the United States is holding the reins. However, as I am about to show you, our demise will directly open the door for another revival of sorts (satanically inspired) to occur, that being the revival of the Roman Empire.

Economic

Currently, US national debt has almost reached $22,000,000,000,000. Even if the US could tax all of its citizens 100% of their income, we could still not pay off or even down the size of debt we have accumulated. Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen once publicly stated that our national debt was the single greatest threat to national security, to which, I would agree. We are no longer borrowing from other nations, but have begun borrowing heavily from the next generation.

The overwhelming financial challenges we currently face are being multiplied on to our children. This will be catastrophic; and the only escape from it, will be to abandon our current financial constructs altogether, and start over.

While we have staved off recent economic crashes for the last few decades, the laws of nature and economics will ultimately render the judgment sooner rather than later. A government cannot indefinitely function from a position of extreme indebtedness. In the end, the bill always comes due. Which reminds me of the quote from Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises novel.

“How did you go bankrupt?” Bill asked.

“Two ways,” Mike said. “Gradually and then suddenly.”

Societal Disparity

Given the increasingly diverse demographics across our nation, it should not be any surprise that our country is increasingly segregating itself into ethnic, religious, and ideological pockets. After a century of politically correct indoctrination in every sector of our education system, these groups are increasingly being persuaded by one particular party (rhymes with democrat) not to assimilate into the greater American citizenry and culture. This is the double-edged sword of multiculturalism. While democrats (and establishment republicans) are busy trying to appease everyone to stay in power, they are creating a more diverse and fractured nation. A nation that no longer cares about what makes America great (our exclusiveness based on our guaranteed freedoms) is a divided nation. It will be a fractured nation, made up of culture trying to inject their own failed policies and ways of life. A nation cannot indefinitely consume everyone and everything (without assimilation), and still hope to retain its national identity. Maybe that was the point.

Ideology & Society

Cultural Marxism (aka…political correctness) is an ideological offshoot of the economic Marxist theories first put forth by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels at the middle of the 19th-century. Marxism as it were, requires mankind to be divided into two major groups, the haves (bourgeoisie) and have-nots (proletariat). In order for Marxism to be successful, it needs to pit people-groups against each other by the tried and true tactic of divide and conquer. Cultural Marxism (CM) further expands on this by rank ordering people into differing classifications of victimhood. It then attempts to create an impossible and unrealistic system of accommodation, ecumenism, and multiculturalism that ultimately destroy every society it is imposed upon…Vis a subversive coup d’état.

When nations/organizations/companies/churches/etc. promote diversity for the sake of political correctness, it becomes a demoralizing and ultimately destructive endeavor because it rejects assimilation. Second to that is the reality that you cannot accommodate everyone with equal results. George Orwell captured this brilliantly in his 1945 book, Animal Farm. Having rejected working for humans, the animal’s revolution resulted in their new laws, of which, primarily, stated that all animals were equal. This worked for a brief time, but later had to be amended to say, although all animals were equal, some were more equal than others.

Cultural Marxism needs strife and infighting to remain at the forefront, because it operates primarily by agitation. Furthermore, there is no way you can sustain it in a given society without bankrupting the system over the long-term. This is exactly what the Cloward-Piven Strategy was designed to do. To break the current system of American capitalism and constitutionalism, and start over, under the auspices of a new regional/global system. This is why things like illegal immigration and voter-ID issues have become the sacred cows to the political left. The only way they can deconstruct our current system, is to be in power (see Obama presidency). The only way for them to bring in destructive and illogical governance, is to rig the election systems in their favor.

Juxtaposed to this, is our understanding of E Pluribus Unum (out of many, one), because it accepts the reality that out of many cultures, we can become one…when we have something to rally around. Unification then becomes a powerful multiplier. A great example of this was the US citizenry war effort in WWII. The nation rallied around the idea of destroying the German and Japanese war-machines, and the entire country came together.

Many think of our nation as being on a spectrum of political ideology going in opposite direction. To the extreme left, you have absolute tyrannical, despotic rule. To the far right, you have absolute anarchy. In reality, the spectrum is just one direction, not two. The further left you move, the more government you want running your life. The more right you move, the less government you want running your life. However, both parties have entrenched themselves in increasingly opposing positions, which makes compromise almost impossible. The Democrats want to rig the system so they remain in power permanently, while the establishment Republicans seem only intent on keeping things the way they are. While both democrats and republicans have taken turns trading power over the last century, one thing is certain; both will come crashing down and be handed over to that final world system.

Religion

The United States was without a doubt, founded on Christian principles and ideals. We can find that in numerous statements from the founders, as well as in the governing documents like the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. From then until now, our nation has made a dramatic departure from our Christian roots (due to both multiculturalism and political correctness). We are in the process now of transitioning from a post-modern, post-Christian nation, into a purely pagan one. This final mix of popular belief systems by millennials, ranges anywhere from New Age mysticism, Wicca, the Occult, and just plain old rampant, apostasy. Point of fact, we are moving back to the Roman era view of religion, which everything was tolerated, except biblical Christianity.

Sexuality

The last pillar in the strength of a nation, centers on the family unit. The traditional (as in the last 6,000 years) has been a man, a woman, and their offspring. The traditional way in which this family unit comes together, is in some form of marriage ceremony between a man and his wife. Where we are today, is that marriage has been redefined to mean a person can marry anyone (or anything) they want. Furthermore, a person can and should shed the biological markers they were born with, and self-identify as something else.

Since our nation is the world’s lone superpower, and we have decided to abandon objective truth for subjective reasoning, we should not be surprised when the world follows suit. This is not to say that issues such as homosexuality, transgenderism, pornography, divorce, militant feminism, abortion, etc. have not been an issue in the past, because they have. However, the last nail in the coffin as it were, is when a society begins to treat and enforce this abandonment of reason as “the new normal.” When a society reaches this point, there is no turning back.

Conclusion

In summary: the glorification of lawlessness, socialism, political correctness, race riots (ethnos against ethnos), and the rise of anarchists, are primarily due to the secularization of public education. The promulgation of easy divorce, abortion on demand, and the aggressive promotion of the LGBTXYZ agenda in every spectrum has led to a dismantlement of the nuclear family. The blurring of gender roles and the insanity of self-identification has confused beyond measure, this current generation. The massive and unsustainable debt, fueled in part by government corruption and endless-wars. The irreparable political division, corrupt media, legitimization of illegal immigration, and sanctuary cities are further factionalizing our nation. The result of which is massive increases in violent crime and a return of viruses and illnesses that had previously been eradicated in the United States. Finally, a devout and committed globalist shadow government (the deep state) intent on overthrowing our legitimate authorities keeps our government from ever being fixed.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. 1 John 4:1-3

All of these are the symptoms of a nation steeped in the spirit of Antichrist. Therefore, the natural state of any nation given over by God must be one succumbing to its own horrors. Although he was able to slow some of this down, we were foolish to think that President Trump could really Make America Great Again. Our nation is sick on so many levels; having a decent Executive Branch of government is like putting a Band-Aid on a terminal cancer patient.

Just as the collapse of the USSR signaled the end of the Cold War era, so too will the collapse of the USA signal the end of Western Civilization as we know it. What began in rocky cliffs along the Aegean Sea with the ancient Greeks will end on the fruited plains of a post-modern America. It is difficult to say how exactly our end will come, or how soon, but one scenario seems to make the most sense, which is the Rapture of the Church.

But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3

Jesus said that His return would be at a time very similar to the days of Noah and Lot (Luke 17:26-30). There are two interesting comparisons made regarding the timeframe of His return at the end of the age. First, God was longsuffering in the days leading up to Noah’s flood. For 120 years as Noah built the ark, he also preached the coming judgment, but no one listened. In Lot’s case, the judgment came suddenly, and only he and his wife and daughters made it out of Sodom alive. In both instances, the society’s they lived in were rampantly evil. These societies had reached the point to where they normalized wickedness, and the believers (Noah and Lot) were increasingly oppressed (2 Peter 2:7).

We live in a day and age where: Homosexuality is a protected class, abortion on demand is a legal right, transgenderism is being pushed on our children, Christianity is removed from every facet of government and education, and the churches (to a great extent) are falling like dominos succumbing to the pressures of accommodating this antichrist spirit. In fact, when the world at large reaches this point of wickedness (as it did in Noah’s day), the earth itself will groan under the terrible weight of judgment coming against it. Nature itself will revolt against mankind and this is evidenced in the overall increase of natural disasters that keep occurring with greater frequency and intensity.

The final piece to the convergence is the separation of the natural and supernatural. At the conception of the church age (Acts 2-Pentecost), the Holy Spirit was given to us and took on the new role as Restrainer (2 Thess. 2:7) to protect the Church during its gestation period. What this restraint has done, has prevented the demonic spirits from completely manifesting in our day (Ephesians 6:12). So far, this restraint has lasted some two-thousand years. But the Church will not remain in utero forever, for there is a definitive point in which God will deliver the multi-membered body of Christ into glory (Romans 11:25), which will remove the restraint placed against the demonic realms.

Just as in the birth pangs signal the coming birth of a child, the signs Jesus gave us in the Olivet Discourse (Matt. 24, Mark 13, Luke 21) would herald the coming birth of the Church at the Rapture of the Church (Romans 8:23-25, Philippians 3:20-21). Keep in mind; these signs have been present since Jesus walked the earth. What He keyed in on was not that they would happen, but that all of these signs would happen altogether with greater frequency and intensity until the end of the age.

  • Deception
  • Wars, rumors of war
  • Earthquakes
  • Pestilences
  • False messiahs
  • Signs in the sun, moon, and stars
  • Distress of nations with perplexity

Therefore, the final sign that signals the culmination of all these Olivet Discourse birth pang signs and that is the increase of the supernatural. The supernatural (or paranormal) are a result of the upsurge in wickedness, which has already begun to “thin” the veil separating the natural from the supernatural. We have seen an unprecedented increase in the paranormal and extra-terrestrial in just the past century alone. The Rapture and the removal of the Holy Spirit’s role as Restrainer, will absolutely remove that veil altogether. This means that the supernatural will be the “new normal” during the final week of years much as it was in the years leading up to Noah’s flood (Gen. 6:1-4).

While it may appear too many that turn of the tide has only brought in a flood of evil, and the days appear to be dark and without hope, remember, the two major signs- Israel and convergence. If things already seem to be coming to a head regarding all these matters, then we are even closer than we can possibly imagine to our Lord’s return. So take heart and hope, and remember what Jesus said regarding the times in which we live,

And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.    Luke 21:25-28

The Turn of the Tide: Part I

by Pete Garcia
The Greek philosopher Aristotle once said that tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society. My understanding is that he is using these two virtues (tolerance and apathy) with a negative connotation in mind. Meaning that they are the predominant attitudes of a society on its way to decline and ultimately, extinction. Meaning that any nation who tolerates or is apathetic to that which is antithetical to existence is destined for destruction. While this article is primarily aimed at my American audience, there are two truth-isms I want to convey to everyone.

The first is that almost every generation has thought they were the last generation.

Imagine you were a Roman citizen alive when the barbarians were at the gates and the Empire began to fall apart. Presumably, this scenario would seem every bit as disturbing as an erupting Mt. Vesuvius, where the only thing on the horizon was smoke and fire.

Imagine you lived somewhere in Eastern Europe, or perhaps the Mediterranean in the pre-800s. One minute you are enjoying a quiet life in your town or village, and the next it is being levelled by Moslem hordes or Nordic Vikings. Families are torn apart and either killed or sold into slavery. Everything you had worked for was either taken from you, or being set on fire. Again, your way of life has just come to an abrupt and radical end.

Imagine being a European peasant or commoner during the years of the Bubonic Plague. Life I imagine would have seemed very apocalyptic. How about being a Jew, Waldensian, or Anabaptist during the height of the Catholic Inquisitions? How many countless hundreds of thousands were dragged out of their houses, imprisoned, tortured, and killed in the name of the same God you worship. What about those countless millions affected by war, whether it be the American Civil War, World War I, or World War II?

We here in the 21st-century New World have had the luxury of foregoing much of what has plagued mankind throughout most of its existence, that primarily being misery. It seems foreign to us; as if it were some long lost word from a dead language, we can no longer pronounce, much less define.

We have grown up in the modern era with all its trappings (electricity, televisions, air conditioning, fast food, etc.), and somehow reconstruct reality to think that it has always been this way. Even our wars today are fought in places most Americans could not even find on a map. Modern academics pick through and either criticize or dismiss historical events as mere footnotes, and miss the reality of the pain, suffering, and misery that often accompanied our predecessors. Hardship was always on them like a stench they could not wash away. However, it more often than not, produced a people that came to accept hardship as rite of passage to be embraced, rather than shunned.

We are not those people.

Corresponding to that is the second truth-ism.

Every kingdom, whether it be a nation or an empire, only has a certain amount of time and space set aside for it.

And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings Acts 17:26

Every nation/kingdom/empire, from the Sumerians to the Americans, has preappointed times and boundaries set aside for it. It does not matter what a nation does to try to extend or stave off that ending (petrodollar anyone?), when the time comes, their fate is sealed. With that said, however, there is one kind of exception shown to us in Scripture, that being Nineveh. Remember God’s reaction when everyone from the king of Nineveh on down repented in reaction to the prophet Jonah’s message of coming destruction?

Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it. Jonah 3:10

Granted, their destruction still came around a hundred-years later as prophesied by the prophet Nahum, but at least that generation (Jonah’s) was able to assuage God’s wrath due to their sincere repentance. However, Nineveh seems to be the exception, not the norm. Many secular historians and academics tend to dismiss the divinely preappointed view as nothing more than cyclical and natural. They have catalogued the normal lifecycle of an empire as being:

  • Age of Development
  • Age of Expansion
  • Age of Conflict and Crisis
  • Age of Growth/prosperity
  • Age of Decline

John J. Xenakis’s Theory on Generational Dynamics further develops this by adding to the overall cyclical nature of empires, the periods of crisis. What this means is that corresponding to the overall accepted cycle of empires (as seen above), that every 80-years (plus or minus ten years), you had massive, genocidal wars. He distinguishes between the mid-cycle wars (those wars which we choose to fight in usually a limited capacity), and the crisis wars (those genocidal wars we are inescapably drawn into). Therefore, that 80-year timeline looks as such:

(+/-20 years crisis)- (Mid-cycle war) —–60 years—– (+/- 20 years crisis) – (Crisis War)

80-years is significant, because this is right around the time that all of the previous generation has died off, and the next generation has no physical memory of the last, horrific, genocidal event. Thus, as the atheist George Santayana once noted, those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.

Empires may in fact run cyclically as noted above. But they do so only because God has already set the boundaries by a) limiting man’s life to 70-80 years (Psalm 90:10), and b) given us the pattern by which a nation assures its own destruction (Genesis 12:2-3, Romans 1:16-31), and c) the order and time for which they will come and go (Daniel 2:31-45, 7-9). Since the Bible predates Aristotle, Carroll Quigley, Santayana, John Xenakis, and all other historians and academics, we see that they are then simply confirming what Scripture has already said would happen. Nations (by that I also mean empires and kingdoms) cannot go beyond what God has already foreordained.

My earnest hope here is not to come off as the perpetual doom and gloomer, but to project a sense of soberness and even optimism. Those two might not sound like they go together, but I suppose it depends on the audience. For those who understand the times in which we live, there is strong sense of optimism. That is because there is the realization that we are in fact, the last generation. So how do I qualify my statement that we are the last generation, when I had just previously mentioned that every generation believed they were the last?

Two words…

Convergence & Israel

So if my next statement seems bold, so be it.

Our nation is doomed.

The United States, like the Babylonians of yore, has been weighed in the scales and been found wanting. The US has promulgated a number of severely grievous sins for which the world has followed our lead. At the very top of that list, is our legalization of the killing of the most innocent from among us, the unborn. If just one man’s blood (Abel’s) cried out to God from the ground (Gen. 4:10), imagine how loud the cries of the 60M+ dead babies are. Not only that, but we have become the most hopelessly materialistic, hedonistic, apostate, post-Christian, and pagan nation on the planet. I do not need to sell any of you on this, simply turn on the news and see for yourself. It is not just me saying this, but men like Peter Marshall, Dave Wilkerson, and many others for the past 70 years have been warning us that judgment is coming.

So what is next?

At present, we are in the final stages of being given over to a reprobate mind. I believe that God gave us a brief reprieve with the election of Donald Trump. However, God did not give us Trump to right all the wrongs, and we were foolish to think so. God is using Trump at present to put Israel back on the center stage of world events.

Since there is no America-like world superpower found in the pages of Scripture, something must cause the United States to decrease, while this beast from the sea increases (Rev. 13:1-2). I believe that something to be the Rapture of the Church. What other event could remove the Bride of Christ (the blood bought Church), which in turns removes the need of a Restrainer, while simultaneously reordering all the world powers in the blink of an eye?

It is my earnest belief that after the Rapture of the Church, the US will be in chaos and ruin. What remains of the US, will be systematically dismantled and our remains divided amongst the final kingdom of man upon the earth.

I know what some of you are thinking. Come on Pete quit being such a sensationalist! People have been saying that forever and still nothing has happened!

I know my regular readers will already know which Scripture deals with this reasoning. For those who do not, listen to what the Apostle Peter said about those people championing the lunacy of the normalcy bias,

Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”               2 Peter 3:3-4

At some point, God’s longsuffering will have reached its limit. At present, we are 2,000+ years into God’s longsuffering; I cannot imagine it continuing for much longer. Aside from Israel during the reign of King Solomon, the US has been the most blessed nation to ever exist. The fact that He has not already come back and initiated the end-events, is perhaps even more frightening.

The non-intervention of God bears very heavy interest, and He is greatly to be feared when He does nothing. He moves in long orbits, out of sight and sound. But He always arrives. Nothing can arrest the judgment of the Cross, nothing shake the judgment-seat of Christ (P.T. Forsyth in The Justification of God).

The other factor for the delayed destruction of the United States is so that technology can catch up with where God said the world would be at the appointed time. We know that this final, ten-nation (or region) confederation will arise in the last days and that ultimately, just one man, the Antichrist, will come to head this confederacy. He will be able to do what no other leader in all of history could do, completely control the earth. This man is also known as the rider on the white horse (Rev. 6:1-2), the little horn (Dan. 8:9), the man of sin (2 Thess. 2:4), and the Beast (Rev. 13:1-2). Here is what the Bible states he will do,

  • It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. All who dwell on the earth will worship him (Rev. 13:7-8)
  • …for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God (2 Thess. 2:3-4)
  • He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name (Rev. 13:16-17)

Every previous tyrant, conqueror, and would be despot that has ever existed (Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc.) have had this authority granted to them on a limited basis, but there were all restrained to a certain degree. This final leader, Mr. Antichrist, will have full backing, power, and authority to wage total war and total control over everyone economically, militarily, and politically. In other words, he has the power to square the circle (do the impossible) because he will have the full support of Satan and every dark principality in existence. Remember what Satan told Jesus during the Wilderness temptation,

Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Luke 4:5-6

So how do we get from where we are today, to that day as described in the Bible?

Next up, Part II

2019: The Year in Review

As always, I will begin with my predictions from last January (2018) to see what I got right, what I got wrong, and what has yet to happen. I do not have a crystal ball, nor do I claim any extraordinary insight into world events. I only watch trends and try to put the pieces together in a logical, sequential order.

2018 Predictions

HITS:
  • John McCain to retire this year due to medical reasons
  • Rex Tillerson is replaced with Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State.
  • John Bolton is brought back to be the Ambassador to the United Nations (personal wish) National Security Advisor
  • Mueller is trying to keep this collusion investigation going through to 2018 where the Democrats hope to take back either the house or the senate. He then will hand over what he has to them (at least this is the plan)
  • The Swamp begins to drain
  • Pres. Trump mulls over serious Afghanistan withdrawal plan
  • Russian support to Iran and North Korea continues
  • Israel-Cyprus-Greece energy triangle-making strides, but staying under the radar
MISSES:
  • Nancy Pelosi retires from politics (although if she doesn’t get speaker of the house, this still may happen)
  • GEN (RET) David Petraeus joins ranks with the administration
  • Blue Sky Option #4 (although, I still hold a high degree of skepticism regarding North Korea’s true intentions here).
  • Merkle loses her reelection (although she has announced her impending withdrawal from politics)
  • Natural disasters- tons of flooding, lots of earthquakes, but the main focus this past year was again, on hurricanes and wildfires.
  • Any Black Swan-type event
TBD:
  • US divorcing the UN- we have already quit the defunct and corrupt UN Human Rights Council, the Compact on Human Migration, and Paris Climate Agreement. Expect further distancing from the United Nations the longer Pres. Trump stays in office
  • Saudi Arab Spring-although you can see the undercurrents stirring, nothing has materialized as of yet
  • The whole Russia Collusion scandal falls apart and takes a dramatic swing to the left, on to Clinton, her cronies, and the Uranium One, and Benghazi/FBI/email scandals

2019 Predictions

US Affairs
  • 2020 Democratic Presidential Candidates begin their run
  • President Trump gets another Supreme Court pick
  • Robert Mueller officially ends his Russian Collusion investigation with zero credible evidence against President Trump over collusion or obstruction

  • Pres. Trump declassifies all the information on extraterrestrial activity (payback against deep state)
  • Pres. Trump instructs SECDEF to begin pulling out of Afghanistan (payback against establishment hawks). This is a reiteration of last year’s prediction.
  • The congressional impeachment effort fails to clear the Republican-controlled Senate, and a new Republican investigation is launched into the 2014-2016 Democratic Party collusion in retaliation
  • If Trump’s Middle East peace plan is revealed, expect a major economic downturn
  • If Trump’s Middle East peace plan is not revealed, expect continued economic growth, or at the least, economic status quo
Asia Affairs

  • AI driven automation effects on job markets (taking human jobs) becomes major political issue for 2020
Summary: The General Trends

2019 will be a watershed year for President Trump as the gloves finally come off. He recognizes that neither the Deep State, nor the media, will quit their subversive efforts regardless of what he does. The Trump Administration will continue to operate at a breakneck speed, largely sending out mixed signals to friend and foe alike. This is not done due to infighting or confusion, but rather, to keep everyone off their game. In terms of military affairs, the US is going to make some dramatic shifts that realign our forces in a strategic manner befitting the changing geopolitical and technological landscape (we are still largely operating under a 1990s/2000s construct).

While Trump’s recent decision to pull out of Syria and Afghanistan are breaking with the status-quo many military establishment-types and Republicans are comfortable with, these are both unwinnable situations. I anticipate major prophetic tremors throughout the Middle East as the US pulls out of Syria, and realigns efforts elsewhere. This could very well be the year Damascus is destroyed. The Israelis have largely not had to worry about too much Russian/Turkish/Iranian build up in Syria so long as US forces were still on the ground. This is no longer the case.

I would expect the Israelis to be provoked at some point in the summer in which they will target Damascus (Isaiah 17) with grim finality. This of course, sets the stage for Ezekiel 38. The Iranians and Turks will seek revenge for this attack, while the Russians are eyeing the natural gas fields off the coast and in the Golan Heights. So long as the US remains the world’s superpower (pre-Rapture), they will build their forces but not attack. I expect Ezekiel 38-39 to come in the gap of time between the Rapture and the official start of the 70th Week of Daniel.

I am loathe to try to predict major calamities happening at specific locations, as I have routinely gotten these wrong. However, I will say that given the rise in the major/minor earthquake activity along the ring of fire in places like Alaska, Malaysia, and Japan, I expect that the US West Coast is long overdue for major seismic activity. If the California wildfires of 2018 didn’t do their jobs in moving many good and decent people from California, this next round of seismic activity (judgment) could be the start of the collapse of California. Another place to keep an eye on is the New Madrid Fault Line that has also recently become active. See here for a more complete list of places to keep an eye on.

Again, 2019 will be an increasingly a High-Rapture-Watch year as prophetic events continue to increase with frequency and intensity. Do not be discouraged because the world continues to embrace the spirit of Antichrist. The Bible said it would be this way; primarily, that things would increasingly deteriorate during the final generation. Live with abandon concerning Christ. This world and the things therein, are passing away. Live every day as if it could be your last. Keep your heart, mind, and soul fixed on Christ, and keep looking up.

Maranatha!

The Cradle, the Cross, and the Crown

by Pete Garcia

As we enjoy this Christmas Season, it is fitting for Christian households and churches to focus on the first coming of Jesus Christ. In times past, and perhaps not so much anymore, one could see the manger scenes in town squares and in front of churches of all denominations. Christmas cards bearing the Star or the three Wisemen are passed amongst believers during this season. Preachers preach predominantly from Matthew 1-2, churches hold cantatas and the sounds of “peace on earth, good will toward men” fill the ears of believers round the world. Bethlehem, Israel becomes the focus of world stage once again, as Christian’s flock to the Church of the Nativity, which is currently held hostage by the Palestinian movement.

The Cradle

Perhaps people like to focus on Christ as an innocent baby or focus on the role of parenthood as Mary and Joseph cared for this child who came about supernaturally. The virgin birth of Christ and the role of Mary figures largely in Catholic circles and also in liberal and secular circles where the possibility of a virgin birth is denied. Thus Christmas, as to its true meaning (unto you is born a Savior), is controversial.
But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Galatians 4:4-5

When the fullness of time had come…is a phrase so packed with meaning that it would not be possible to break it all down in the limited space (or ability) I have at my disposal. But it speaks to the eternal purpose of God’s plan for the redemption of mankind, and of all created order. It speaks to the specific moments on man’s timeline, when God would intervene, in a supernatural and visible way, to put feet to His plan.

Dr. Andy Wood’s makes much use of this phrase in his teachings, and really brought to my mind, the preciseness and purpose for why God chose that particular time frame for Christ’s first coming. Consider these points:

I: Since Alexander the Great, Koine Greek became the predominant common language in the Mediterranean. Koine Greek is a very precise language which is perfect for capturing the original intent and meaning of the Scriptures…no matter which language they get translated into in the future.

II: The Roman republic form of government ends under Julius Caesar and he creates a total dynastic dictatorship under what would become the rule of the Caesars. Christ was born and dies under the reign of a Caesar, and will return one day when another Caesar (Antichrist) who has set his empire up over the whole world.

III: The Roman’s perfected the creation of the road networks, which spanned the boundaries of the Mediterranean, Asia Minor, Europe, and even up into Britain. Israel remained under the subjugation of Gentile powers (as described in Daniel 2:31-45, 7, 8, & 11) which had played out from the time of their exile to Babylon (605-539BC).

So looking at it from a holistic point of view, there was a common language (Koine Greek), an advanced network for travel (all roads lead to Rome), dominant pagan world power (fertile fields no doubt), and Israel in the final years before her diaspora. Unknown exactly which year Christ was born in, or rather, is much in dispute to the exact year, we know when He was born the nation of Israel wasn’t expecting it. We know from the world’s perspective, the birth of the Christ in some backwater province of the Roman Empire, didn’t even register a blip on their geo-geo-political radar. We know Christ lived up unto the age of 30 virtually as an unknown, before exploding onto the scene to present the world with 3 ½ years of God in the flesh, ministry. At the end of that, He managed to make the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Zealots mad enough to trump up false charges and have Him brought before the Sanhedrin to be tried as a political prisoner.

The Cross

In Genesis 49, Jacob was blessing his sons, who would become the heads of the 12 tribes of Israel. When Jacob came to bless Judah, he gave him an interesting prophecy;

The scepter shall not depart from Judah,
Nor a lawgiver from between his feet,
Until Shiloh comes;
And to Him shall be the obedience of the people.

Also, in Numbers 24:17, the prophet Balaam prophesied that this same scepter would be accompanied by a Star, by which the wise men (Matt. 2:2) would know where this One born King of the Jews would be.

“I see Him, but not now;
I behold Him, but not near;
A Star shall come out of Jacob;
A Scepter shall rise out of Israel,
And batter the brow of Moab,
And destroy all the sons of tumult

Modern Jewish scholars today will refute that Christ is the Messiah because their argument is that the ‘scepter’ departed from Judah back in 605BC when the Babylonians under Nebuchadnezzar laid siege to Jerusalem. Furthermore, that from then, until 1948, the Jewish nation had been under some form of Gentile domination. All that is true. But what is also true is that the Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans allowed the Jews to have a semi-autonomous rule (Zerubbabel, Ezra, Maccabeus) over themselves, up until King Herod Archelaus was removed from power by Julius Caesar in 6AD (Josephus, Antiquities 17:13). That’s when the Jews lost any remaining semblance of autonomy and were subject to a series of Roman procurators with Pontius Pilate being one.

Since Jews were either not anticipating the coming of their Messiah, or had largely ignored the literal fulfillment of the prophecies pertaining to Christ’s first coming, they thought they had lost their right to wield capital punishment on Him, which is why they had to turn it over to Pilate for the official sentence. Now, that didn’t stop them previously from trying to stone Him to death on a couple prior occasions when they were riled up, but He always managed to allude them. (John 8:58-59, 10:30-33) They (the Sanhedrin) didn’t want to crucify Him on Passover because of the negative publicity, but again, the timing was such that God orchestrated everything to coincide with exactly the Passover Feast. (Mark 14:1-2; 1 Cor. 2:6-8)

The victory at the Cross represented something much more significant than a literal kingdom on earth (which is still yet to come), but that Christ conquered death and hell. (Rev. 1:18) Because Christ had to be a man to die for the rest of mankind as our Kinsman Redeemer, Christ willingly endured the joy set before Him, in order to pay the price for OUR salvation. (Lev. 25; Heb. 12:2; Rev. 5:6-10) It would be equivalent to God rigging a game that placed all the burden and rules against Himself so that by His losing, we win. Christ trading His own perfect holiness, for our sinful and corrupted lives, is oft referred to as the most lopsided trade in all of recorded history…yet, that is exactly what transpired. We don’t think about it this way, but God the Son, traded His former estate, to take on forever, that of God in a glorified human body.

The Crown

I’ve often heard Amillennialists and Preterists state emphatically, that Christ will not return to rule and reign on earth because they say that we are now in the Kingdom. I couldn’t disagree more. The Scriptures tell us, that this world, is under the sway and control of Satan himself. (Luke 4:5-6; 1 Peter 5:8; 1 John 5:19; Rev. 2:13) As much as these might wish, the Cross didn’t usher in some Edenic age where lambs lay down with wolves, children play with cobras, and nations beat their swords into plowshares (Isaiah 2:4, 11:2-8). Any interpretation that detracts from the actuality that God Himself will right the wrongs, and restore nature back to its original order. Anything less than that is to depart from the plain reading of the text into allegorical folly.

It was to King David that God said, “And it shall be, when your days are fulfilled, when you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your seed after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.” (1 Chron. 17:11) God states over and over, that the Kingdom Come is not established by man or by earthly efforts, but by God Himself (Dan. 2:44-45; Psalm 2; Rev. 19:11-16). There is the idea that the Kingdom is purely spiritual, and is argued that the Kingdom is now in play, only in the heavenly realms, this by taking several texts out of context. (Luke 17:20-22; Romans 14:17) If those who deny the literal coming Millennial Kingdom on earth had their way;
Christ would only come to earth to die, and not to reign; for Christ to be born ‘King of the Jews’, but to not actually become “King of the Jews”; for Him to ride a donkey, but not a white horse; for Christ to be spat on, beaten, and hang naked upon a cross of shame, but not to return in triumphal glory coming on the clouds with the armies of heaven behind Him. If Christ doesn’t return, then He remains defeated on the earth that He spoke into existence, that God’s word does not mean what it says, and that God can break unbreakable promises.

The reason that men and women promote these heterodox teachings, is because of man-made religion, whether it be Roman Catholic or Protestant, have become too invested in the things of this world. They want life to continue on, or maybe they just see life continuing on and on, in some endless cycle of man rising and falling (2 Peter 3). They have to depart from a plain sense reading of the text and insert their own interpretation, which supplants God’s promise to return in victory and claim what is rightfully His. And not only to claim what is His, but that every knee should bow, whether it is in heaven, on earth, under the earth, throughout all of creation, and confess that Jesus Christ is King (Philippians 2:9-11). Are these folk saying that Christ is free to rule everywhere, but the earth?

The Christ-rejecting world as well as those Christians who have fallen into spiritual slumber, will be astonished in that Day, when Christ comes for His Church. Because that Day, opens the window of time, for the Tribulation to begin. It doesn’t begin the Tribulation, but the Church has to be removed prior to the start of that final week of years, in which at some point afterward (days, weeks, months, years), the seven year Tribulation will begin just as it is noted in Daniel 9:27. The final seven-years will be the most horrific, violent, and devastating period of time humanity has ever seen (Matt. 24:21-22). God will accomplish two things by it; first, He disciplines Israel, and second, He destroys all the Gentile nations round about her, by bringing the whole Babylonian system crashing to the ground (Jer. 30:7-11).

It is noted in the Prophets, that THAT DAY will begin in unimaginable calamity, perhaps masking the Church’s departure. The prophet Joel records…“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.” Paul writes that For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 1 Thess. 5:2-4

Make no mistake that the Lord will return and will come with the clouds and in great power and glory. Christ will come and reclaim that which was lost with Adam. He has the title deed to the earth. He no longer wears the crown of thorns, but now wears ‘many crowns’, meaning He has ALL authority. When the holy prophet Isaiah saw the throne room, he was undone. When the holy prophet Daniel sees the throne room, he was shaken. When John sees the glorified Christ in all His splendor, he falls over as dead. How much more traumatized will an unrepentant, Christ- rejecting world be when it sees the sky splitting open and Christ returning in power and glory? The whole world will mourn (Rev. 1:7). The world at this moment doesn’t care. The religionists try to minimalize or explain-away His soon coming with fanciful wordsmithing. Those actively opposed to Christ, who loathe Him and are filled with vengeance because this age is coming to an end, are ramping up evil in these final moments…

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen. 1 Timothy 6:11-16
